Responsibilities

• Develop and ensure the following underwriting management programs are implemented
  
  1. Loss Control (appropriate use of the available services) through the development and implementation of an effective program to manage the portfolio of business underwritten to produce an underwriting profit
  2. Quality Control
  3. Underwriting Plan/Monitoring Control
  4. Pricing Management (using the Burning Cost Model as appropriate)
  5. Service Management
  6. Catastrophe Management
  7. Training & Development
  8. Ensure all business is underwritten within established Internal Audit Guidelines. The employee will at times personally underwrite risks
  • Develop the line of businesses annual financial and strategic plans and forecasts. Implement the approved plan
  • Marketing and development of Basic Book business with insurance brokers
  • Proactively prepare for account renewal review with marketing staff. Work with sales staff to identify and produce new products or packages to meet current or potential market needs and to generate underwriting profits. Ensure approvals from appropriate regional and regulatory authorities are obtained timely. Initiate account and product reviews with sales staff.
  • Provide support to sales staff by personally sourcing highly technical underwriting information, negotiating with or educating clients/producers and targeted segments of the business community
  • To ensure that the Division / Department observes, reports and complies with the requirements of:
    
    1. BNM’s UPW / GPI : Standard Guidelines On Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML / CFT)  and;
    2. UPW / GPI (2) : (AML / CFT) Sectoral Guidelines 2 for Insurance and Takaful Industries by establishing  and documenting relevant AML / CFT requirements  in Departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all key operations of the Division / Department,  communicating AML/CFT obligations to departmental staff and agents and regular monitoring of the department processes to ensure overall compliance.
